I don't own one, but I have been on occasion seen carrying a bag or briefcase of some sort, which people who don't know that my Coach Embassy brief is actually a briefcase and not a purse.

Huh. I've carried a handbag for years. A plain leather shoulder bag, that is; I'm actually on my second one. It takes a good year or so to break in a bag, so that it gets beaten up enough not to look girly. ;)
It's so damn useful! It has two outside pockets; my phone lives in one and my Palm Pilot in the other. I've got hayfever and headache tablets in there, my chequebook, a small umbrella, backup tapes for the computers at work, sometimes a notebook computer - I have a tiny Sony Vaio, but alas it's kind of broken :(
