Every once in a while I go to news.com, and search their technology news archives for commonplace things. CDROM, DVD, HDTV, and then I go way back in time to see what was going on, and what people thought about now commonplace technologies, which were super cutting-edge a few years ago.

The plan is to produce DVD players that can accomodate movie, music, and computer DVD discs as well as existing CDs, and CD-ROMs. The new discs are similar to compact discs and can store 133 minutes per side of video or the equivalent of eight CDs of music. Company officials say DVD players will go on sale in the United States in the second half of 1996. Prices are expected to be in the $500 range.
Wow, $500. That's pretty expensive. I got mine (a Toshiba) two years ago for $129, and now the much superior model sells for less than $100.
