Flies and the Flying Fliers who Fly

Some thoughts on flies:

What's it with Flies? Where do they come from, and when they get somewhere, why are they always willing to get out the window. No sonner do they arrive than they want to leave. But when you try to shush them out the window they won't go. They hide.

One thing about flies is that when you get a warm day during the fall they come out of the woodwork, literally. Right now it's about 70 degrees and there are flies trying to get out. They were no where to be seen 2 days ago when it was only 35. Where did they come from?

When you are trying to sleep in your bedroom and there is a captive fly why do they decide to land on your face?

Those ones with the blueish green backs are creepy.

Ackkkkkk, yes, the FLIES.....
Ours are fruit flies -- which is a misnomer when you see how fond they are of empty dog food cans...unless there's a lot of fruit filler in the dog food...which might account for why our dog turns her nose up at it.
My son (11 years old) has devised a fruit fly death trap -- a plastic lid filled with dish detergent and a piece of canteloupe placed enticingly in the middle. Simple, but effective. (Hmm, should I be worried about him?...)

One of my mom's coolest talents is to snap them right out of the air with a dish towel... just twist and *SNAP*, that locker room prank turned fly-deadly.
I keep wondering if she spent a lot of her mispent youth in NFL locker rooms but I don't dare ask.
